about fixing
the fixers manifesto
edited by Maria Popova for LORE
strikes a chord in me. Because, if we do not do look at certain things inside ourselves, they hardly have a chance to change with the participation of our conscious mind!
And all the selfmade and self-invented fixes symbolise just that inner attitude.

Walk to work
On my way to work, now I am walking until my collarbone is good again. I
walk to the train, and from the train to the office.Right on the first
or second time I saw this two pieces of architecture:

abandoned house
I liked
this building from the first time i saw it- a high transparent hallway with a woodstove in the center, natural stone walls, the kaktus and palmtrees providing shade and visual protection, its long inclined roofline, the way it sits on the slopey ground. Even its huge size did not matter too much. How much more I was surprised when I passed by again, and the entrance gate stood wide open. Years of old newspapers around. I carefully stepped onto the compound finding out that it has been abandoned a long time ago. I did not investigate it thoroughly and just took these pictures close by the entrance.

Camping Legessy (http://www.camping-legessy.com)
this was one of the very good if not to say best camping spots on the 2011 tour Valencia-Frankfurt-Valencia. It was on our way back south, the region is called "Drome Provencale" and the owner confirmed that it is still "sauvage",well it made us stay several days on that site. We followed Alain and Cristiane, the owners of camping Legessy, on a trailride passing lavender fields and a mountain ridge. They rode an old Honda xlv 750. That I guess made me trade my trusty Transalp for a 1986 Tenere. As we started working again back in Valencia, I wanted to move to that place badly. In my memory the whole experience had turned into something different, almost like a myth or memory of a story long ago.

wood
Yes, I was a carpenter before I tried to not be one so I could be something else, but in the end it would turn into a need and help me gather strength to work with my hands.

Have been to the Honda training!
I left friday right from work, rode up north, arriving at Santa Perpetua de la Mongoda around midnight, for a couple of hours of sleep, and a whole day of riding experience (by the way, one of the instructors, having seen my bike, said: "they paid you so you take it, right?" It is true that I had to spend a lot of time and work on this, plus worries, and I had to pay to buy it, so there you see what taste is capable of tolerating....and true, it was an interesting experience to try a 600cc CBF (turned out to be light and agile once going, to my surprise), not to mention the 100cc enduros on the dirt track and the trial bikes); after which I pointed the Tenere south again to get home around midnight.
Definitely a bit crazy, but the only way to do it.
Since april I have to put up with 60+ hours weekly workschedules . I do not know whether or not will be accepted in my new work so I cant give up the old one ending up with two jobs.
I wanted to do this training for a long time so i decided just to make it happen.

simple me
had a nap after work. with a coffee I felt fine to do valve clearances on the Tenere. Our flat is six floors and 100m away from where I can park the bikes, so I imagine what will be needed and bring my tools in a bucket...
my portable workshop....!
Actually now I start feeling a bit more comfortable working on the Tenere...my body got used to the way this bike is designed, the elasticity of its materials. All the basic steps and movements have gotten intuitive without thinking-take off the gastank, separate the oil cooler, I know which size key to grab, and...
I really apprechiate the Tenere's simplicity
sorry, I guess that this happens to all bike owners but-isn't it a cool machine???
notes for valve clearance.

the plug has 6000k's
not bad. I cleaned it, adjusted the distance and it should be good for another 6000-what do you think?
now time to clear up!
take note of the odometer.
there where things in between I did not have the time to fotograph. But she started on the 1st kick and sounds as smooth as a 600 single can get!
Now I am in a good mood.

Puerta Coeli
It is summer now in the mediterraneans.
I needed to be out again, so I hid my kneeprotectors inside my backpack when I went to work and thought "lets go!" after leaving the office, wich is already close to the mountains.
The view above shows a hidden monastery, only run by a few monks, they have their own water, I can see orange plantations and several building complexes scooching into the mountain.
After this it is easier to return to the city.

my camara broke down...is wasn't mine but borrowed from J.who did not really use it, and it did not withstand my last trailride in the pocket of the jacket. The big photo of the Tenere in the bushes is its last recording...so for the moment i use a cellphone and think about what is next.
today is a sunday off.
we got ready in the morning, it is hot and sticky on the highway along the sea.
once in the mountains it cools down. there are good spots to finish the tea in the thermos and take a stretch and rest.
We saw a heap of piled up colourful beehives and got lots of fresh air.
Here in Ruzafa there is an ecologic produce market and a bookstore cafe.
The Tenere goes like a tractor around the steep little curvy mountainroads. Has almost 90000k down and I bought it with 75000 I think. I am starting to feel confident about the Tenere, after some beginning repairs and oilleaks I know the bike better and get a solid feeling.
The feet rest on the pegs right underneath of both rider and passenger and it is easy to lift the bum out of the seat.
